I augusti publicerade Gallup en uppdatering av Potential net migration index (PNMI). Undersökningen syftar till att ge en bild av till vilket land människor helst skulle flytta ifall de fick välja fritt. Överst på listan hamnar Singapore som skulle öka sin befolkningen med 219 % (!). Sverige kommer en bit längre ner och hamnar på plats nummer åtta och är där med det mest populära lander inom EU. Sveriges befolkning skulle öka med ca 78 % dvs ungefär 7 miljoner. Även om ovanstående skulle inträffa vore befolkningstätheten fortfarande tämligen låg. Top of the list is Singapore, which would increase its population by 219% (!). Sweden, a bit further down and end up at number eight and is one of the most popular countries in Europe. Sweden's population would increase by about 78% ie approximately 7 million. ARWU

Varje år sedan 2003 rankar ARWU (se länk nedan) universitet i världen utifrån bl.a antal nobelpris och citeringar i vetenskapliga tidskrifter. För en noggrannare definiton av de kriterier som ARWU utgår ifrån gå in under rubriken methodology. USAs dominans är närmast förkrossande. Bland de 25 högst rankade universiteten finner man blott 5 stycken som inte kommer där ifrån. Bästa svenska placering står KI (Karolinska institutet) för med en 42:a plats. Nu kan man ju tycka att plats 42 inte är mycket att yvas för. Då ska man dock betänka att länder som Tyskland, Ryssland och Italien inte lyckas få med något universitet högre upp på listan.
